Goa Sudharop's One Day State Level Work Shop "Youth Development" for college students, at Sanquelim

The Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim in collaboration with Goa Sudharop Trust has organized a day’s state-level Workshop on “Youth Development”, recently.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Rajendra Kerkar, by lighting the traditional lamp alongwith the guests and some participants.

The College Principal Dr. B. A. Gomes welcomed, introduced the guests and spoke on the design of the Workshop towards the all-round development of young minds who will go out into the society. Mr. Ibonio D’Souza, Chairman of Goa Sudharop Trust spoke on the activities of the Trust and introduced its Youth representative from California U.S.A., Ms. Sheela Almeida.

The Chief Guest Mr. Kerkar, stressed on protection of the environment, global warming and the need of enlightened Youth to lead efforts for the conservation of Goa and Mother Earth and biodiversity of Goa, as a hotspot of the world.

Ms. Celly Coutinho, co-ordinated the workshop which was well attended by 117 participants, including 40 teachers and student participants from other Institutions of Goa.

The workshop included sessions by Mr. Pravin Sabnis, who dealt on leadership, positive attitude and values. Brother Pralad of Chinmaya Mission stressed on the importance of an open, disciplined mind in the society which leads to healthy mental growth, in his session “Mind your Mind”.

Mr. Miguel Braganza of the Botanical Society of Goa explained the role of the Youth in Environmental awareness and protection while Mr. Soter D’Souza, Social Activist, motivated the participants on their role and need of active participations at Gram Sabhas during his talk on “Panchayati Raj”.

The presentation by Dr. Priti Bakre was held post-lunch. She dealt with the effect of drugs on the mind and body of humans and its consequences.

At the Valedictory session, the Youth Representative of Goa Sudharop Trust, Ms. Sheela Almeida spoke of her experiences, besides other participants who also gave their feedback. Certificates were distributed by Mr. Ibonio D’Souza. The workshop concluded with the National Anthem.

The College Teacher co-organisers, Mr. C. Rao proposed the vote of thanks while Dr. Norma Menezes compered for the Valedictory Function.
