This year Goa Sudharop, a Goan diaspora, volunteer, non-profit NGO working for betterment of Goa and Goans worldwide for over a decade extends its support and appreciation to Goa Chitra.

Goa Chitra is an ethnographic museum cum organic farm that seeks not only to restore and preserve the traditional agrarian lifestyle of our ancestors but also to promote awareness and appreciation of the eco-friendly techniques practiced by our forefathers out of a deep sensitivity and concern for the environment.

One of the main goals of Goa Sudharop is to work for the promotion and preservation of the socio-cultural, historical, and architectural heritage of Goans. Goa Sudharop Community Development Inc. U.S.A. greatly appreciates the unique collection and display of traditional farming implements and other ancient tools of trade set against the backdrop of a traditional organic farm, at Goa Chitra.

The executive director Ibonio M.B. D’Souza, while extending his encouragement felicitates Victor Hugo Gomes, founder and curator of the museum. “This amazing accomplishment could be possible only with your exceptional passion and commitment to the cause of Goan heritage. We are pleased indeed to donate to Goa Chitra a sum of Rs. 50,000/- towards the maintenance, restoration and conservation of the exhibits.” The curator Victor Hugo, is grateful for the support being obtained and plans to continue his mission.

Goa Sudharop, promises further support and encouragement to preserve Goa’s unique traditions and lifestyle for future generations.

Since its outset Goa Chitra has been the recipient of the Fundacao Orient scholarship 2009 (Portugal) and the V.X.
